replacement for the acronym LGBPQQA and the colloquialism queer; misconstructions, including altersexualed (adjective) or altersexual (noun), should be avoided.

Etymology

derivative of alter "another" (Latin) and sexualis "relating to sex" (Latin); neologism first attested by a respondent to Champaign-Urbana "Buzz" newspaper column (mid-November online issue).
